David Glade | Rector
David is the founding pastor of Christ the King. David received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University (’96), his Masters of Divinity from Trinity School for Ministry ('04), and his Doctor of Ministry from The Catholic University of America (’22). David was ordained to the presbytery on January 27, 2005 and was installed as the rector of Christ the King on November 21, 2008. Before planting Christ the King, David served on the pastoral staff of The Falls Church. David and his wife, Jennifer, have been married 20+ years and have six children.
Peter Schwanda | Pastor of Community
Peter serves part-time as a Pastor of Community, and also as the Director of Training for FOCUS, an independent school student ministry. He received his B.S. in Environmental Design, and his Masters degree in Architecture. He has worked in student ministry since 2007, as an Area Director for Young Life in Maine and for FOCUS in Connecticut. Prior to his ordination to the Priesthood in 2020, he completed his Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and served as a Transitional Deacon. He and his wife, Mimi, moved to Alexandria in 2015, and they have two young children. They live on-campus at Episcopal High School, where Mimi is a faculty member.
Katherine Doster | Director of Women’s Ministry and Pastoral Care Associate
Katherine received her Master’s degree in Christian Education from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA, and her B.A. degree in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She worked four years for the C.S. Lewis Institute as female mentor and public liaison before founding Rivendell House. She has mentored women in Washington for twenty-one years and now also provides spiritual direction. Since 2005, she has served The Navigators on the Shepherd's Network National Leadership Team and has provided relational healing for missionaries. She serves part-time with Navs and runs Rivendell House as she serves part-time at Christ the King
Ann Lee | Director of Music
Ann Lee received her D.L.S in a self-designed doctorate in artistic communication from Georgetown University; her M.M. in piano performance from George Mason University; and her B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from The American University. Ann has been an active accompanist and church musician since her youth. Ann is professionally active as a performer, teacher, mentor, adjudicator, presenter and writer. In her free time, Ann enjoys reading, art films, and art history, and spending time with her family. She lives in Alexandria with her husband Rick.
James Peterson | Assistant Director of Music
James is a conductor and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Vienna, VA. James enjoys a rich career of conducting both professional and student ensembles, as well as performing in symphony orchestras on the double bass and in various ensembles on the guitar. James holds a bachelor’s degree in performance from the Johns Hopkins Peabody Conservatory as well as two graduate degrees from the Indiana University Jacob School of Music. Sacred music and performing for worship has been a part of James’s life for nearly 15 years, and he is very excited to share his passion for music with Christ the King.
Rosemary Hollingsworth | Director of Children’s Ministry
Rosemary received her Master's degree in Business with a focus in finance and economics from Texas A&M University College Station, TX. She received her B.A. degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX.
She is a proud military spouse whose husband serves in the USMC; a career which has afforded them many adventures. Rosemary and her husband are parents of twin boys and moved to Alexandria in 2021. In her free time she enjoys running, reading, and traveling.
Jack Waters | Director of Youth Ministry
Jack Waters was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, and has attended Christ the King since fall of 2012. He graduated with a B.A. in History with Honors from Union University, writing his thesis on the Decline and Resurgence in the Antebellum Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. He was married to Emma Posey in January of 2022, and has been back at CtK with Emma since graduation as a postulant for holy orders. He enjoys spending his free time reading history and theology, playing wiffle ball or anything competitive, and hosting friends and family at the Waters' home on Capitol Hill.
Lisa Andres | Parish Accountant
Lisa is the Parish Accountant for Christ the King. She graduated from Hillsdale College and The University of Dallas with degrees in history and political economics. Lisa and her three girls live in Alexandria and they have been members of Christ the King for about four years. She enjoys swimming, reading and spending time with her family, and their dog and rabbit.
Judi Palafoutas | Director of Operations
Judi Palafoutas serves as the Director of Operations at Christ the King. Judi and her husband, John, have been members of the church since its founding. After retiring from a career in medical research, Judi was elected to the vestry in 2019. Over the next three years, two as Senior Warden, the church faced the loss of worship space due to a building fire, and then, a pandemic! Beginning while on Vestry, Judi was also chair of the Church Search Committee that successfully negotiated the purchase of 1801 North Quaker Lane as our permanent church home in 2022. A native of Pittsburgh, where her children and grandchildren still live, she takes frequent trips to visit them and to cheer on her Steelers.
Jesse Perl | Pastoral Resident
Born in New England, but raised in the South, Jesse has spent most of his adult life serving in Anglican churches in South Carolina. He has an undergraduate degree from Winthrop University ('16) and is pursuing an MDiv at Regent College. He is recently married and excited to begin life in the DC area. His hobby is collecting hobbies and is known to sport a bowtie on Sundays.
Julie Williams | Communications Coordinator
Julie resides in Alexandria and is originally from the Seattle area. She has two Master's degrees - one in Journalism and Public Affairs from American University and one in Liberal Studies from Georgetown University. Her undergraduate degree is in Art History from the University of Puget Sound. She spent most of her career in public policy as a Capitol Hill staffer and as a lobbyist. Her interests include writing, book collecting, antiques, art and athletics.
